‘Either you fire her or I’m gone’: After a New Employee Mocks a Woman’s Children, The Company Faces an Ultimatum

Work: we all have to do it, we all have to have jobs and pay the bills, and some of us like our jobs more than others. The enjoyment one gets from working can be related to many factors; it could be the job itself, the pay, the benefits, the environment, the fact that there's a bowl of avocados everyday, or it could be the people. In my experience, your coworkers can make or break your enjoyment of a job. If you really like what you do, but you're surrounded by people you hate, it's impossible to stay in that environment. Just imagine it, you're typing away while Becky is nagging you again and again about your deadlines, or worse yet, about the number of cavities she has. And imagine the opposite, you don't particularly love your job, but you come to work with great people who let you have fun, chat, talk, and have a social life. 

So what happens when you've put in the longevity at your company, and a newbie shows up trying to bring you down? Hopefully the company appreciates you enough to put you first. That's loyalty.

    I have worked at a small, local business for almost 12 years now. We have about 8 employees currently and are short staffed. About 3 weeks ago they hired on some woman in her 50s, who we will call "Karen". Karen, in the beginning, was very appreciative of being hired on - as her husband is out of work following a car wreck
